Position Summary:

The Education Field Experience Coordinator will work to ensure that all field experience and practicum requirements are met for students enrolled in the education degree programs. Programs will include CDA, ECE undergraduate programs, ARC requirements, and all Graduate School Education Programs. The Education Field Experience Coordinator will also ensure that information is tracked and reported as required to regulatory agencies, including CT State Department of Education as well as NAEYC for Early Childhood Higher Education accreditation. In addition to approving and tracking candidate placements in experienced field placement sites, the coordinator will also advise students to register for courses in their respective programs.


Example of Job Duties:
  • Advises students in undergraduate degree programs
  • Manages field experience and practicum requirements for students in Early Childhood Education programs to ensure compliance with NAEYC accreditation requirements.
  • Develops partnerships with early childhood and public schools in CT and maintains collaborative agreements, ensuring documentation and tracking of sites where students complete the experiences.
  • Develops systems to track field and practicum experiences for the ARC program to ensure the program adheres to all CT State Department of Education requirements. accreditation requirements.
  • Manages the Early Childhood Career Center and refers students to employers based on need.
  • Works with the program directors to recruit and hire diverse faculty.
  • Attends meetings of the Office of Early Childhood and other state-wide committees related to early childhood education.
  • Other duties as assigned to support of the overall mission of the Education Programs at Charter Oak State College.
  • Additional responsibilities will include managing the Early Childhood Career Center and developing collaborative partnerships with early childhood programs to recruit and attract new students.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree required.
  • (1-2) years of college teaching experience in early childhood or a related field.
  • Must have experience developing relationships with early childhood programs.
  • Understanding of NAEYC Field Placement and Practicum requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use technology to create graphs to analyze student data related to teaching competencies.
  • knowledgeable of NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators, early childhood care and delivery systems, and early childhood degree programs


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced skills in technology.


Work Environment:


  • This position is primarily remote. Annual review of telecommuting work will be required and may be adjusted at any time based on program needs.


  • Periodic travel may be required to program sites to develop relationships with early childhood program directors or school-based personnel


Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $71,159 - $96,567, plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
