Position Summary:
The Eastern District is seeking applications for a 12-month, tenure track or tenured position as an Assistant or Associate professor, Extension educator in family and consumer sciences programs and 4-H youth development. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria based on the unit and college bylaws. This position is located at the University of Idaho Extension office in Blackfoot, ID, Bingham County, and will do Extension programming in Bingham County and throughout the Eastern District.
The Extension educator will spend 90% of their time in Outreach and Extension. 50% of Extension time will be allocated to family and consumer sciences (FCS) health and nutrition instruction and support. 30% of Extension time will be allotted to provide instruction and support in food safety and food preservation, and 20% of Extension time will be allocated to 4-H youth development. The Extension educator will determine clientele needs and priorities and then design, market, conduct, and evaluate Extension programs.

In addition, the educator will participate in applicable university, college, Extension, district and community committees and perform other service/ leadership assignments (5%) and will conduct scholarship/creative activities (5%).

Minimum Education/Degree Required:
Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications:
- A masters degree from an accredited institution in family and consumer sciences, nutrition and health, Extension education, or a closely related discipline. The degree must be completed by the date of hire.
- Experience adapting research-based materials into oral and written presentations.
- Experience collaborating in teams focused on educational outcomes.
- Experience using computer technology to market programs and communicate with stakeholders and clientele.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extension experience in family and consumer sciences or applicable professional experience
- Experience in needs assessment.
- Experience in program evaluation.
- Experience in disseminating research results through scholarly outlets such as refereed/peer-reviewed publications and/or oral presentations.
- Supervisory experience of staff and/or volunteers including recruiting, teaching, supervising, mentoring, and managing others.
- Experience working directly with youth and/or adult audiences.
- Experience in grantsmanship and cost recovery efforts.
- Experience with conflict management and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Bingham County and the surrounding area.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Work a Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Must posses a valid drivers license
- Ability to lift, carry, and/ or otherwise move 50 pounds.
