Birmingham-Southern College seeks candidates with a demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Sociology position beginning August 2018. We will give special consideration to candidates with expertise in social inequality who would be able to significantly contribute to our Distinction in Poverty Studies and Distinction in Public Health programs. However, candidates in any subfield of sociology will be considered. All candidates should be well prepared to teach introduction to sociology as well as statistics and research methods. A demonstrated ability to make connections with local community partners is highly valued.

The teaching load is three courses in the fall term, one course in the January term, and three courses in the spring term. Ph.D. is highly preferred, but ABDs will be considered if the defense date is set.
